Open Call “Gender aspects of water resource management in Central Asia and Afghanistan”
Dear Colleagues!
The Kazakh-German University in Almaty and Central Asian Journal of Water Research (CAJWR) welcome applications for participation in the project “Gender aspects of water resource management in Central Asia and Afghanistan: Supporting young researchers through publication of articles in the CAJWR”. The financial support is provided by the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP), the World Bank.
The following candidates are eligible to apply:
- PhD students
- Aspirants
- Soiskateli
- Young researchers, who recently received their PhD degree/ degree of candidate of science
from universities and research institutes in Central Asia and Afghanistan, who conduct their research work on water-, energy- or/and climate change related issues with focus on gender aspects in water resource management in Central Asia.
During the project, selected candidates participate in a series of online conferences, and in a regional event, where they will present results of their research work conducted within the frame of the project. Additionally, by the end of the project, selected candidates will submit a scientific article based on the conducted research work for publication in the CAJWR. Selected applicants will be supported in their work on an article by international expert(s) during the whole project period.
An application should include description of a short-term research work which is planned to be conducted during the project. The proposed short-term research work and its topic should be part of the applicant`s dissertation/PhD thesis.
Applications in Russian or English language are accepted by February 10, 2020.
Upon successful completion of the project, selected participants will receive financial support in the amount of up to USD 400 to reimburse their actual expenses incurred by conducting the proposed research work.
Selection criteria
One of the main selection criteria are:
- Focus of the proposed research work on gender aspect(s) in water resource management;
- Relevance and significance of the proposed research work for Central Asia;
- Method(s)/methodology used;
- Interdisciplinary approach.
Selected applicants will be requested to submit a recommendation letter from a PhD/Dissertation supervisor, and a confirmation letter certifying enrollment as a PhD student/aspirant/soiskatel, etc. at one of the Central Asian or Afghan Universities.
