@Minura Begishpek kyzy as we understood women participation is very vital in water sector in order to reduce natural disaster risks so first step as always is “increasing their awareness” on this topic. My question is what kind of activities done or doing in rural areas to increase women awareness?

@Minura Begishbekova: interesting classification of gender roles. As a biologist, I make a clear distinction between women as persons of the female seks and the gender roles of men and women which are socio-cultural determined and different for different groups in society and changing over time. Slide on women employed in water sector: in what positions? For instance: decision making positions or administrative?

Recommendations; Maybe also: ensure a critical mass of women in WUA’s because presence alone does not mean having a voice.

@Olga Kalashnikova, you mentioned about the discharge stations data in Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyzhydromet. Do you have access to this data? Will it be possible to share this data? Do you have a web site, where I may download this data? We are targeted to prepare a flood prediction model, prediction analysis within the Kiroskaya reservoirs, on Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan border, close to Taraz (Jambul) city on South of Kazakhstan

Answer from @Olga: We work mainly with natural runoff - with forecasts of water inflow into reservoirs. Information on discharges from the Kirov reservoir is located at the Depvodkhoz.

Comment from @Zhanay: it is difficult to obtain information from them; the regulated reservoirs of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Central Asia do not inform the population of runoff

Answer from @Olga: As a rule, they transmit information to neighboring countries (departments of water management and hydrometeorological services), staff involved in activities.

Thank you for your questions and recommendation :))). I think you asked about women employed in the water sector in Kyrgyzstan. Data on positions in the Central Office shows that women work mainly as senior, leading and first-class specialists, and the only female head in the Central office is the head of the information and Analytical Department.

Thank you for your question. Yes, women's participation is very important for reducing natural risks in the water sector (especially in irrigation). A review of country practice shows that awareness-raising for women in rural areas is carried out by organizing seminars, trainings, projects, involving them in management and decision-making, or by the adoption of regulations by the state. But most often the initiative is taken by women themselves.
