The Central Asia Knowledge Network (CA KN) was established in 2012 under WBG led Central Asia Energy-Water Development Program (CAEWDP). The Program supports cooperation and analytical capacity building in the area of Water Recourse Management (WRM) among academics, young professionals and practitioners from Central Asian countries and Afghanistan.
Currently CA KN supports 3 Communities of Practice working on knowledge exchange and capacity development in WRM in Central Asia:
- The Academic Community (Network) includes representatives from CA universities teaching water resource management aspects. The Network is supported by Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC, http://www.carececo.org/main/) and German-Kazakh University (GKU, https://dku.kz/en/). The CA KN provides linkage of the Academic Community to the Central Asian Journal of Water Research (CAJWR), where young scientists, professors and practitioners can publish scientific and research articles: https://www.water-ca.org/;
- Central Asia Youth Water Parliament, a community of young water professional representing Central Asia in global Water Youth Parliament imitative: http://pmje-wypw.org/;
- Central Asia Youth Forum on Water (CAY4Water) established in 2015 to support young water specialists in professional development through knowledge exchange on water issues and participation in existing senior water professional’s networks: http://cayfwater.org/join-en.
The CA KN provides a platform for coordination and information exchange on various programs and projects implemented in the area of WRM capacity development in Central Asia by development partners.
